Becoming a Friend of Cheam Common

Hello and a warm welcome to Cheam Common Infants Academy and to our Friends of Cheam Common PTA.

Whether you’re new to school or if you’ve been with us for a while, what better way could there be to meet other parents than to get involved with the fun events that we hold here throughout the year?

We have a Friends Class Rep for each year to help promote our fundraising to each class and a band of other parents who help out with the organisation and smooth running of events. Inevitably each year we lose some of those parents as their children move onto the next school, so it’s key that we get new parents coming through right from Nursery to take on the small task of getting involved.

I’m sure the acronym “PTA” fills you all with fear and brings on images of baking, giving up lots of time and probably even giving lots of money. However, I wanted to just clear that up; what we need from parents is just a small amount of time, working around you and your commitments. If there were enough of us who were willing to give up 1-3 hours a YEAR, that would make all the difference.

We run various events from Christmas and summer fayres, cake sales, disco's and quiz nights to help raise money for equipment and supplies for the school. All these events require different levels of involvement and you can dip in and out of them depending on your diary and availability and allows everyone to have time with their families at the bigger events too.

I hope this has given you a better idea of what we could all do to help, and I would love to hear from you.  It would be great if you were willing to put your name down to be a volunteer for anything, events, time in the day when your child is at school, no matter how small, it will help.
