Spoken Language

Speaking and Listening are essential skills for learning. Our aim is to ensure that all our children become confident speakers, able to express their feelings and views and ask questions. We also teach our children to listen attentively, respect the views of others and take turns when speaking. These skills are developed through speaking and listening games and activities such as drama, puppetry, circle time, partnership work and taking part in productions. The school council is an additional way which enables children to express and develop their own opinions, by considering and listening to the ideas of others. They are chosen by their peers and meet each week with our PSHE Lead. Their views are heard and they become involved in decision-making.
