Meet the Academy Committee Members

Pam Cooper: Chair of Academy Committee

I first became a school governor in 2002, and in 2019 I joined the joint Local Governing Board of Cheam Common Infants and Cheam Common Junior schools.

I was appointed Chair of the Academy Committee for the Cheam Common schools in September 2022 and have responsibility for Achievement and Safeguarding. In the past I have had responsibility for Inclusion and Curriculum. Outside of school I work on a voluntary basis for a local Christian charity providing assemblies and RE support in primary schools in Sutton.

Marcus Le Brocq: Co-opted Academy Committee Member

Marcus is a School Parent Governor at CCI and CCJ with three children across both settings. He has a long professional background working with Children and Families. Initially with the looked after children's team at London Borough of Sutton then retraining to become a teacher and working for a charity delivering social emotional literacy (PSHE) programmes to primary schools all over London. He has a passion for ensuring fair access to education and inclusion for all learners.

Geeta Watson: Co-opted Academy Committee Member

My name is Geeta Watson and I am one of the co-opted governors. Before the formation of the new governing body, I was a parent governor for Cheam Common Infants - a role I was elected to in May 2018.


I am currently a stay at home mum of 3 (2 boys and a girl) I am also an avid Chelsea fan! Before having my third child I was a Primary School teacher at another local Sutton school.

It is a real privilege to be part of the governing body for Cheam Common. I am passionate about education and look forward to supporting the school in enabling every pupil to reach their full potential.

Andrew McCarthy: Parent Academy Committee Member

Andrew is a proud parent of two children, one of whom attends Cheam Common Infants with the other hopefully joining in due course. As a member of the parent committee, he is passionate about supporting the school community and helping to create a positive environment for all students. Outside of school activities, Andrew enjoys spending as much quality time as possible with his wife and children. Aside from this he enjoys road cycling and watching motorsport. Andrew values the opportunity to contribute to the school’s growth and success.

Adrianna Hokanson: Parent Academy Committee Member

Adrianna Hokanson is a Governor and parent of two children at the school. She is deeply committed to supporting the wider school community and helping to create an environment where both students and teachers can thrive together.

She believes that children learn best when they feel safe, respected and encouraged, and values the role the school plays in creating a warm, inclusive environment where every child can grow in confidence and curiosity.

Adrianna brings a thoughtful, strategic and creative approach to her role on the governing board, supporting the school in making clear, forward-looking decisions that benefit pupils, staff and families alike.

Family is at the heart of everything Adrianna does, and being involved in her childrenʼs education is one of her greatest priorities. She is proud to serve as a Governor and to contribute to a school environment where every child can feel confident, supported and inspired.
